Issue 9: Time is Logarithmic
time and money are hard things, facts about being confident, why everyone should build on AI agents
Hello people! Thank you for your readership; we hit 100+ readers this week. It’s a small milestone but we are happy that everyone is a little more curious each week 🧠🎉
Life updates
Both of us started working on an app! maybe it’s gonna be huge, maybe not but we are excited. More on this when we finish an MVP 🚀– Wei Chun & Ben
Without further ado, enjoy this week’s curation. It’s a bit of a long one but we hope it’s worth it.
Why time gets shorter as we grow older
Our perception of time is relative. In mathematical terms, our view of time is not linear, instead, it is logarithmic.
So appreciate time while it’s longer now.
The Nothingness of Money
Money is a required pursuit for life, but a pointless pursuit upon death.
The only way to resolve this tension is to remind yourself that you are already aware of the inevitable futility of a money-centered pursuit. That what you will see as ridiculous later can actually be perceived as ridiculous now.
This article made me think about how much time I thought about money but not how I am using that to invest in life experiences. You and I typically go through the normal pattern of working very hard in our early days to achieve FIRE, but does that necessarily solve our troubles with money?
Visual design rules for your next project
Some design patterns that I find very helpful and learned a lot from.
Using 4 hours to accomplish everything
You almost certainly can't consistently do the kind of work that demands serious mental focus for more than about three or four hours a day.
The real lesson – or one of them – is that it pays to use whatever freedom you do have over your schedule not to "maximise your time" or "optimise your day", in some vague way, but specifically to ringfence three or four hours of undisturbed focus (ideally when your energy levels are highest).
The Curriculum that we all wanted
This tool is so cool. It automatically generates the curriculum of a particular topic you are interested in. For example, this was something I generated for ‘Data Engineering’. This would have been super helpful when I first studied Data Engineering 2 years ago.

Facts about becoming confident
I found this small creator on YouTube last week. How she speaks about this topic really amazes me. We need more people in the world to speak about advice like this.
Some of my notes on Confidence
Have a vision
Fake it till you make it because it depends on how you perceive yourself (tell yourself you can do it)
Reinforce habits, but you don’t need to be drastic in the sense that you want to change in a day
Add affirmations - make a promise to yourself and keep it → trust yourself and you will become more confident
Do uncomfortable things because it plays out in the long term
People generally don’t care about you because they think about their insecurities only (and they are most likely projecting their insecurities onto you)
Be excited about your presence in a room - remember you are unique in this world

my takeaway: it’s not just about sleep; it’s also about movement, diet, and what you do before sleeping.
What I’m Watching
Perfect Days
Never knew a film about a toilet cleaner could teach me so much. It taught me to appreciate the little things in life and to be present in the moment. There's no need to always be chasing after something. Sometimes, it's okay to just be.

It’s a beautiful and moving depiction of how we can find clarity, acceptance, and joy by embracing the current moment and allowing our lives to unfold one day at a time. Hirayama would probably refer to this as Komorebi, a Japanese word that describes sunlight shining through the leaves of trees, creating overlapping layers of light and dark. As the film ends, we are shown the definition of Komorebi. We are told that this unique display of nature is ultimately fleeting, only existing very briefly in the current moment. The idea of Komorebi serves as powerful metaphor of the core theme of Perfect Days; it is a way for us to recognize and give ourselves over to the invisible, transcendent beauty of the moment that only exists in the here and now.
What I’m Listening
Funky City Pop might be my favorite genre to listen to now. No more lo-fi music.
